This is the final newsletter of the year and my last as Headteacher. It has been an exciting and hugely fulfilling 18 years.
I have never tired of being impressed 通过 the imagination, vitality and enthusiasm of generations of young people. You only need to read this newsletter – about this half-term’s House Drama Competition, the Fruition and Design Award Evenings, the Kodu work with primary schools or the final two Exploration Days – to gain a sense of pupils’ inspiring creativity and pzazz.
Nor have I ever been less than in awe of the sheer hard work and commitment of staff, teaching and support, to every young person. Our South Korean visitors capture a sense of it in their account of the fortnight they recently spent with us, and you see it in the many trips out – to the Magistrates’ Mock Trial national final, the current 爱丁堡金奖公爵 expedition in Cumbria, the Sixth Form trip to Mbeya, Tanzania. Behind the scenes, unremarked in newsletters and seldom catching any headlines, is the quiet day-to-day dedication of staff teaching in lessons and also working with pupils in the cracks of the crazy paving that makes up school life.
Now read on for a quick summary of this term’s activities.
